The new, patented Variotempo process redefines the standards for forming technology.
By significantly extending the limits of the cold forming process, Variotempo allows complex, previously multi-part components to be manufactured as individual components. This not only reduces the number of joining processes, it also reduces the material used and the tooling investments required. The new process can be used for both steel and aluminum components.
Variotempo also opens up a number of possibilities for producing lightweight structural parts in automobile manufacturing. With significant weight reductions of up to 60% per component, Variotempo is a revolutionary method for processing high strength and super high strength steel sheets with strength ratings of up to 1,200 MPa. The same body strength is thus achieved even though the sheet thickness is reduced.
First the forming processes were simulated in the Engineering Department at Allgaier Tool Making. The process was then gradually developed to production readiness, and a patent was filed. Variotempo has since been applied in series production in automobile manufacturing and can be used for all structural parts such as crash reinforcements, cross members and edge plates.
